María José Cavagnaro, MD

María José Cavagnaro earned her medical degree at 23 years old from The University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. During her medical school career, Dr. Cavagnaro distinguished herself by achieving excellence in academics. After completing medical school in Argentina, Dr. Cavagnaro completed six years of neurosurgery residency at the Hospital Fernandez, Buenos Aires.

Dr. Cavagnaro also completed a research fellowship in Skull base Anatomy at Weill Cornell University, with part of her own dissections published in a peer-review journal. She joined the University of Arizona - Department of Neurological Surgery as a research fellow in February of 2021, where she participated on more than 50 publications, presentations, and abstracts. In July 2022, Dr. Cavagnaro started her Spine Clinical Fellowship at the University at Buffalo, where she fueled her interest of becoming a complex spine surgeon.

Dr. Cavagnaro like the rest of her family has a passion for soccer. Her uncle is a professional soccer coach, and she likes to play with friends and watch the games of her team, Velez Sarsfield, as well as the Argentina national team. She also loves biking for exercising, commuting, or explore places.
