John Choi, MD, M.Ed

John was born and raised in Southern California, with his undergraduate studies in biology, neuroscience, and psychology at the University of Southern California. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from college, he taught high school in Los Angeles for several years as a science teacher and received a master’s degree in education. He then attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he investigated exciting basic science questions under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Lim and received the institution’s Harvey Cushing Research Award for his research in brain tumor and cerebrovascular immunology. His interests outside of neurosurgery involve reading science fiction, writing short stories, teaching magic tricks to his pediatric patients, and finding ways to blend his love of cooking with chemistry.
