Nandan Lad, M.D., Ph.D.
Nandan studied Biology and as an undergraduate at California State University, Los Angeles in the Early Entrance Program (EEP), starting college at age thirteen. He then pursued his medical and graduate school training at Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University. Nandan's graduate research focused on Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) structure, function and signaling and its applications in neurodegenerative diseases in the lab of Dr. Ken Neet for which he received the John L. Nickerson Award for best graduate thesis. During his residency at Stanford, Dr. Lad pursued a Biodesign Fellowship in Surgical Innovation and developed an interest in logical medical device design for large unmet clinical needs. He is currently working on a platform technology targeting many neurological diseases that presently lack any effective therapies. Outside of neurosurgery, he enjoys running, basketball, reading and spending time with his family. Nandan has an interest in Functional Neurosurgery and Minimally Invasive Spine and intends on pursuing a career in academic neurosurgery.
