Achal Achrol, M.D.
Achal received his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at The George Washington University where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in computer science. During medical school, Achal received the prestigious Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship. Achal’s interests in neuro-innovation and translational research have led him to develop a handheld electrocardiogram monitoring system, an NIH-funded bioinformatics database, a portable cerebral perfusion measurement device, microfluidic biochips for genetics and proteomics research, and techniques to utilize magnetic resonance imaging to study volume and hemodynamic changes in aneurysms. Achal was born in Jaipur, India and later moved to the US in 1981 with his family, who live in Washington, D.C.

Research Interests: Cerebrovascular disease, tumor angiogenesis, stereotactic radiosurgery, stroke, genetics, proteomics, epidemiology and surgical outcomes, design & implementation of randomized controlled trials, entrepreneurship.
